I'm on the Rosneath Peninsula, enjoying a wonderful week's residency at Cove Park. The preeminent idea of the week is to work on editing the novel in line with the excellent suggestions I received from an agent a couple of weeks ago, and I am indeed getting that done. But I'm also spending a lot of time staring out of the window. I'd forgotten just how beautiful Scotland is, and renewing my acquaintance with hills and heather, not to mention the glories of the lochs, is seductive. Yesterday there were three minesweepers doing a kind of formation dance out on the water and I swear I gazed at them for several hours ...

But, dear agent and editor, if you are reading this, I then drew the curtains and sat until late, combing my manuscript to find the clunks and glitches that we both agree need to be corrected, so I did put in the hours, I promise!
